A STRONGER AP
ART PROCESS

Use this cycle repeatedly: question, make, notice, experiment, revise, document, and reflect.

01

Ask a visual question

Choose a question that can generate many works rather than a topic that can be answered once.

02

Make before over-explaining

Let studio evidence guide the investigation; writing should clarify what the work reveals, not replace making.

03

Experiment with purpose

Change one or more meaningful variables—material, scale, viewpoint, process, structure, or context.

04

Revise visibly

Preserve drafts, tests, annotations, and before-and-after documentation so growth is easy to see.

05

Curate the sequence

Arrange work so the viewer can follow how the central inquiry expands and becomes more sophisticated.
